Dr Paul Bennett
Paul Bennett was born and raised in Hastings and came down to Otago University in 1971. He completed a degree in biochemistry and then graduated with his medical degree in 1978.
That year he moved to work at the Palmerston North Hospital. He returned to Dunedin to undertake a Diploma in Obstetrics and Paul subsequently joined Dr’s Chin and Williams in their Cargill House Practice in December 1980.
Obstetrics was a large component of Paul’s practice for many years. On December 2000 he ceased obstetrics, 20 years to the day he started in private practice.
As well as general practice, Paul had undertaken minor surgery and has extended this interest over the years. He also has a special interest in men’s health and he is well known now for his vasectomy skills!
Over more recent times Paul has become quite well known as the“The Tongue Tie Doctor” by new parents who come to see him on recommendation from Plunket and midwives from all over Otago. Click here to read related ODT article
Paul and his wife, Cheryl, enjoy gardening; especially the roses and rhododendrons. They enjoy walking for exercise. Between them Paul and Cheryl have five adult daughters who are scattered about the planet.
The first grandchild, a boy was born in February 2013.
Paul also loves to get into the kitchen and cook and has an enthusiastic interest in wine appreciation. He enjoys matching wines with his cooking.
